Jerry Sidell at Celebrate Recovery / The Landing
Celebrate Recovery / The Landing
Brookwood Church has said this policy had been in place “for years”:
“…they would have to inform the ministry leader about their background and their story.”
Yesterday, a previous leader from Celebrate Recovery and The Landing gave me permission to share this anonymously:
“I can confirm there were minors on the CR worship team with Sidell—none of us knew his status.”
This is exactly the kind of ministry leader Brookwood says should have been informed.
And this was not a short-term involvement.
Jerry served with Celebrate Recovery for more than 10 years, continuing until July 20, 2026.
I have timestamped records documenting that involvement across those years.
The two photographs attached to this post are from 2019, but they are only snapshots from a much longer period of service.
The Landing is Brookwood’s program for students in grades 6–12. It serves teenagers who may be walking through difficult personal and family circumstances, making appropriate safeguarding especially important.
Brookwood’s own materials show Celebrate Recovery and The Landing participating together in Family Worship before separating into their individual groups.
Jerry Sidell’s visible role in worship gave him the credibility of a trusted Brookwood volunteer in front of the students participating alongside him.
So who actually knew Jerry’s story?
