Jerry Sidell Led The Table: Who Knew His History?

Brookwood Church’s Disclosure Policy

Brookwood Church says this policy has been in place “for years”:

“…they would have to inform the ministry leader about their background and their story.”

So let’s talk about The Table.

Jerry Sidell’s Leadership of The Table

Jerry Sidell was the leader of The Table for multiple years.

Brookwood’s own website listed Jerry as the contact for the men’s Bible study.

Jerry personally invited me:

“My mens group meets today at 11:30 in the Brookwood Cafe. Please join us if you’re available.”

“The Table.”

In August 2026, Jerry’s name was scrubbed from the Brookwood website.

Brookwood later characterized Jerry’s involvement as serving at an “adult small prayer group.”

But Jerry wasn’t simply attending it.

He was leading it.

And after Brookwood leadership finally investigated Jerry’s history in July, Bryan told me directly that Jerry was being removed from leadership of The Table and replaced.

Bryan also told me that nobody in The Table knew Jerry’s history, including the person being considered to replace him. And the man who was going to replace him was on the board of The Rusty Bucket.

Who Was Responsible for Disclosure?

So Brookwood’s stated policy creates a pretty obvious question:

If Jerry was required to disclose his background and story to the ministry leader…

Jerry was the ministry leader.

Was the technicality that Jerry knew Jerry’s own story?

The Table and Brookwood Preschool Academy

There’s another serious problem.

The Table met on Brookwood’s campus during school hours, in proximity to Brookwood Preschool Academy.

This week I spoke directly with the DSS agent responsible for licensing Brookwood Preschool Academy.

That agent told me the Academy Director stated that she had never been informed that a registered sex offender was on Brookwood’s campus during school hours in proximity to the school.

Brookwood has emphasized that the Academy is generally behind locked doors.

But Brookwood Preschool Academy’s own handbook makes clear that the children do not remain behind those locked doors throughout the day.

It states that children participate in outdoor activities and that full-time children have:

“supervised outdoor play and/or walking trips around the campus—2 times a day.”

So this wasn’t simply a question of whether Jerry Sidell entered a locked preschool area.

He was leading a group on the same campus, during school hours, while young children were being taken outside of those secured areas.

Who Actually Knew Jerry’s Story?

Brookwood says this disclosure policy had been in place “for years.”

Jerry led The Table for years.

The people in the group, according to what Bryan told me, didn’t know.

The Academy Director says she wasn’t informed.

So who actually knew Jerry’s story?

And what, exactly, were they told?
