The Brookwood church situation progresses…
Damage control is in play. The internet is getting scrubbed.
This cannot be silenced or forgotten until it is addressed.
Removing material from the internet, shutting down websites and social media pages, and having private conversations telling congregants how to respond to a situation… not a good look.
People need to understand what is happening so it does not continue. We are to protect the Church (the body of believers) and our community, not the church building or its reputation at the expense of safety for survivors and for children.

Update: Clarification Regarding Sex Offender Tier Classification
In this video I mention Tier 3 offender status. In the recent Fox publication they mention Tier 2 offender status. When I look for clarification on this I am not able to confirm which status is official. This distinction is different from state to state. With the conviction being in GA and this offender now being registered in SC there is some nuance to the matter.
As I review the classifications of Tiers and the documentation of his crimes it seems to me he should be a Tier 3 Offender. But it is possible that he officially is a Tier 2 Offender in South Carolina.
Documents mention that he also sexually abused the 14 year old’s 12 year old brother but that age is not listed on the registry. Also, not all of the 9 boys Jerry confessed to abusing are listed on the registry (remember he served several concurrent sentences for having abused multiple boys)…
So I believe his offenses meet the criteria for South Carolina’s Tier 3 status but not all the crimes we have documentation and confession for seem to be officially listed in South Carolina’s sex offender registry.
Nevertheless, the type of offender I describe in my video is the type of offender we are dealing with:
Conviction for multiple boys, roughly the 12-14 year old range while he was serving as a youth pastor.
Jerry A. Sidell is listed on the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry for Georgia convictions dated December 7, 1983, involving child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes. Contemporaneous newspaper reporting identifies four child-molestation counts and one enticing count involving two 12-year-old boys.
